Daniel Levy has confirmed that Tottenham has a buy-back option that allows them to bring Harry Kane back from Bayern Munich. Kane made a £100m transfer to the German club in the recent transfer window, as the north London club aimed to avoid the risk of losing the England captain for free next summer.
During a fans' forum on Tuesday night, Levy, who faced criticism from Tottenham supporters for allowing Kane to leave, was questioned about the presence of a buy-back clause for Harry Kane. In response, the Tottenham chairman simply confirmed, "Yes, we do." However, Levy refrained from providing additional specifics regarding the terms or financial aspects of the buy-back option.
Kane's departure from Tottenham in early August left the possibility of a future return open. In his announcement, he expressed that it wasn't a final farewell, emphasizing that one can never predict what the future holds: "This message is a gesture of gratitude and I look forward to reuniting with you soon."
Kane has been in excellent form for Bayern ever since he joined the Bundesliga champions, finding the net four times in his first four games.
As Bayern prepares to host Manchester United at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday night, Kane will be making his Champions League debut for the team. It was rumored that United was also interested in signing Kane earlier this summer.
Kane: I'm still following Spurs
Despite Kane's departure, Spurs have had a remarkable beginning under their newly appointed head coach Ange Postecoglou this season. They have been unbeaten in the Premier League with four victories, placing them second in the standings.
Spurs will be facing their north London rivals Arsenal on Super Sunday, with the match set to be broadcast live on We at 2pm. Kane states that he will continue to monitor his former club's outcomes for the remainder of his life. "It's been a great start - I'll forever be keeping a close watch on them, as well as Tottenham," says Kane.
It brings me immense joy to witness the team performing so brilliantly and, naturally, seeing their fans elated is truly wonderful.
Undoubtedly, they will be thrilled to maintain this excellent form. With a significant game against Arsenal scheduled for Sunday, I am eager to observe their performance throughout the season.
Kane on Man Utd links: Bayern the right choice
Kane maintains Bayern Munich always felt like the right choice for his next club as the England striker prepares to face Man Utd in the Champions League.
"During the summer, there were discussions happening between several clubs in the background. However, I was particularly intrigued and thrilled by Bayern, as the England captain expressed prior to Wednesday night's Group A kickoff at the Allianz Arena."
"After Bayern entered the picture, there were limited talks with other clubs. The final negotiations were primarily between Bayern and Tottenham, leading to the completion of the deal."
"My focus is on here. Manchester United are a great club, a really big club as well. I just decided to come here and am really happy I have."
