Yuu Otosaka, the central character of the 2015 Japanese anime Charlotte, is a high school student who possesses the extraordinary ability to control the minds and bodies of others. However, he remains oblivious to the fact that he is not the sole individual with such powers.

In spite of its fleeting duration of merely five seconds, Yuu skillfully exploits this ability, employing it to deceitfully excel in academia, subsequently manipulating his way into an esteemed high school through an entrance test. Ultimately, his actions reveal him to possess a rather deceitful nature.
Although he possesses charm and could have easily found a girlfriend on his own, he chose to exploit his manipulative powers to win a girl's affection. Thankfully, his actions were thwarted by the assertive student council president of Hoshinoumi Academy, Nao Tomori.
Tomori, seeing right through his deceit, catches him red-handed cheating during a test. With the help of Joujirou Takajou, another member of the student council, Nao later persuades Yuu to transfer to Hoshinoumi Academy and join the student council. Unbeknownst to many, Hoshinoumi Academy is a hidden institution designed for students with extraordinary supernatural abilities, such as Yuu Otosaka.

The group is responsible for identifying and locating new individuals with abilities that have the potential to harm others. However, as they delve into their investigation of these abilities, the group frequently finds themselves caught up in significantly more complex situations than they had anticipated.
