A recent leak potentially unveils an exciting addition to Grand Theft Auto 6 after a 14-year absence: the chainsaw. While fans eagerly await the official release of Grand Theft Auto 6, Rockstar Games has remained tight-lipped about the game's details. However, numerous leaks online have provided substantial information in the meantime.
Regrettably for Rockstar, a significant leak has exposed various aspects of Grand Theft Auto 6. This leak confirmed previous rumors about the game, such as the inclusion of both male and female protagonists and the setting in Vice City. It also offered early glimpses of the game's open world action, providing fans with a general idea of what they can anticipate when the game eventually debuts.
Now, thanks to the LinkedIn profile of former Rockstar Games employee Sayan Saha, more details about Grand Theft Auto 6 have been leaked online. Saha, who was a part of the 2D UI team for various Grand Theft Auto projects at Rockstar Games, including Grand Theft Auto 6, revealed in a now-deleted post that he designed over 500 2D assets for the game. These assets include "interior prop labels" for items such as a fire extinguisher, chainsaw, electric board, boat motor, and car engine. Although it remains uncertain whether players will be able to use the chainsaw, this leak does confirm that chainsaws will be present in Grand Theft Auto 6 in some form.
If this leak is accurate, chainsaws may make a comeback in Grand Theft Auto 6, marking the weapon's return since its last appearance in 2009's Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars. Despite not being included in Grand Theft Auto 4 or Grand Theft Auto 5, it would be fitting for the chainsaw to feature in Grand Theft Auto 6, considering the game is set in Vice City. The use of chainsaws as weapons was introduced in the original Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, paying homage to Scarface, one of the game's main inspirations. However, the mention of "interior prop labels" alongside chainsaws may suggest that they will be merely decorative objects in the game world, rather than usable weapons. Fans will have to await an official announcement from Rockstar Games to confirm the weapons available in Grand Theft Auto 6.
Grand Theft Auto 6 is in development.
