The Big Picture
For All Mankind writers Ben Nedivi and Matt Wolpert reveal that Season 5's pre-production hasn't started yet following the Writers' Guild of America strike.
Nedivi remains hopeful that despite the delay, the show will receive official renewal. He is eager to swiftly initiate the writers' room in order to avoid a prolonged hiatus.
Nedivi maintains the belief that the strike was essential to safeguard the writing process's integrity and ensure fair remuneration for the writers. The premiere of For All Mankind Season 4 is set for November 4.
Although co-creators and writers Ben Nedivi and Matt Wolpert of For All Mankind are eager to begin pre-production for Season 5, they have faced a setback. The show has not yet been greenlit for a fifth season, which has prevented the usual writers' room process from starting. In an exclusive interview with our website's Steve Weintraub, Nedivi mentioned that the series does not officially have a Season 5 pickup. He explained that the expedited writers' room process, typically used by streaming shows to enable a fast production schedule, could not be executed this year due to the four-month Writers' Guild of America strike. Nedivi stated, "Because of the writers' strike, we weren't able to start a room for Season 5. Usually, that's how it works on a show like ours, where you would have to start the room before the next season premieres."
This is the first time in the show's history that we are premiering without starting the room for Season 5. Not only do we not have an official pickup, but we haven't even begun the room discussions yet. I believe this is due to the strike, and I think it was the right decision to hold off. Hopefully, we can secure the pickup and keep telling the story.

Nedivi emphasized that the strike was a necessary measure to protect the integrity of the writing process and ensure fair compensation for those participating in the strike. He acknowledged that the strike has had an impact on various shows but believes that audiences have become more understanding and engaged as a result. There is now a greater awareness and acceptance that some shows may experience delays, and people comprehend the reasons behind these delays.
