Sandman season 2 has been steadily releasing news since its explosive debut on Netflix, and the surreal fantasy drama appears to be just as mind-bending. Created and executive produced by Neil Gaiman, The Sandman is the highly anticipated adaptation of his beloved DC Comics dark fantasy graphic novel series. Starring Tom Sturridge as Dream of the Endless (also known as Morpheus), Jenna Coleman as Johanna Constantine, Kirby Howell-Baptiste as Death, Boyd Holbrook as The Corinthian, and Gwendoline Christie as Lucifer Morningstar, The Sandman season 1 covers the first two volumes of Gaiman's graphic novels: Preludes and Nocturnes and The Doll's House.
In the first five episodes, Preludes and Nocturnes is encompassed, recounting Morpheus' imprisonment for over a century and his subsequent quest to retrieve his magical symbols of office and restore his realm, the Dreaming, after his escape. Episode 6 of The Sandman, titled "The Sound of Her Wings," serves as an epilogue and introduces Death and Dream's immortal friend, Hob Gadling (played by Ferdinand Kingsley). The final four episodes of The Sandman season 1 adapt the story of The Doll's House, which introduces Rose Walker (portrayed by Vanesu Samunyai), a Dream Vortex, and showcases Morpheus' ultimate showdown with the renegade nightmare serial killer, the Corinthian. As The Sandman season 2 approaches, more of Neil Gaiman's groundbreaking graphic novels will be adapted.
