DC reveals Jason Momoa's new darker suit for Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, possibly a stealth suit for underwater missions.

Test screenings have revealed that fans are dissatisfied with the sequel's direction, which presents a significant challenge for the DCEU. However, it is noteworthy that DC should be commended for developing a prequel that generates excitement and offers additional background for the forthcoming movie.

Ahead of the release of Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom in late 2023, fans are eagerly anticipating Jason Momoa's appearance in the highly-anticipated sequel. As the movie's premiere approaches in just over two months, DC has unveiled a clear glimpse of Momoa in his new Aquaman attire. Alongside this exciting news, DC has also announced a comic book prequel that can be enjoyed prior to the release of the Aquaman sequel for a deeper understanding of the story. DC has also acknowledged the individuals responsible for designing Momoa's spectacular new Aquaman suit for the upcoming film.

DC's official X account has unveiled Momoa's new Aquaman outfit for the upcoming film "AQUAMAN AND THE LOST KINGDOM," scheduled to be released in theaters on Dec 20. Along with this announcement, they have also teased the release of a comic book prequel to the film, featuring a photo cover starring Jason Momoa and a variant cover by (Belen Ortega) and Arif Prianto, which will be available on Oct 31. Contrary to the classic gold and green suit depicted in the comics and previous DCEU movies, Momoa's Aquaman is now donning a much darker suit. The darker color may serve as camouflage or a stealth suit, aiding Aquaman's ability to remain undetected while underwater, as he spends most of his time there. This change in attire could potentially have an impact on the direction of the movie's plot. Additionally, based on the comic book art, it appears that Aquaman will be facing off against Black Mantra, one of the antagonists from the original Aquaman movie, alongside his brother King Orm.

However, the issue lies in the fact that initial feedback from test screenings of Aquaman 2 indicates that fans are dissatisfied with the direction the sequel is taking. This is problematic for the DCEU, as they have already experienced disappointing box office returns with The Flash and Shazam 2. Although Aquaman was a massive success upon its release in 2018, superhero movies have since declined in popularity.

Credit should be given to DC for their efforts to generate excitement for the upcoming film by creating a prequel to provide fans with more context. However, it may be irrelevant if fan interest has diminished to the point where Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom will be another failure for the franchise. In addition, there has been controversy surrounding the Aquaman 2 trailer, which could further hinder its success. Nevertheless, it is commendable that DC is making an effort in spite of these challenges.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom will premiere in theaters on December 20, 2023.
