Manchester United Women have turned down an offer for England goalkeeper Mary Earps from an unnamed club.

The bid is thought to be a world record for a goalkeeper in the women's game.

Earps featured in every one of England's seven games during the World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, impressively stopping a penalty from Spain's Jenni Hermoso during the final match despite the ultimate loss. As a recognition of her exceptional performance, Earps was honored with the Golden Glove award as England secured the runners-up position.

Earps was acquired by United from Wolfsburg in 2019. Over the past four seasons, she has appeared in every minute of United's league games and was honored with The Best FIFA Women's Goalkeeper award in February. Her United contract still has one year remaining.

The WSL transfer window closes on September 14 and the season starts on October 1.
