Disney+ has decided to cancel the completed series Nautilus as its production company searches for a new platform. Nautilus, a ten-part live-action show based on Jules Verne's novel 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, explores the origins of Captain Nemo and his iconic submarine, The Nautilus. The role of Nemo was to be played by Shazad Latif from Star Trek: Discovery.
According to Deadline, Disney+ has confirmed that Nautilus will not proceed. This decision is part of the company's ongoing strategy to remove streaming content and reduce spending on non-sports programming by $3 billion, as announced in February. Despite already being filmed, Disney+ is collaborating with the production team to find an alternative platform for Nautilus, currently engaging in meetings to explore potential options.
