As of now, Magic Camp, Darby and the Dead, and Black Beauty are the only removed Disney+ originals that are not available on PVOD.
Why Disney+ Removed So Many Movies
In May of this year, Disney+ underwent a significant purge of its content, resulting in the removal of 12 movies and numerous shows from the streaming service. Reports in June revealed that Disney received a $1.5 billion write-off for the content removal not only from Disney+ but also from Hulu. This suggests that the decision to remove a substantial amount of shows and films was driven by profit motives.
While most of the movies that were removed from Disney+ are now available through PVOD (Premium Video on Demand), the fate of the TV series remains uncertain. This includes shows such as Willow, which was initially announced to be on hiatus after its first season but was subsequently removed from Disney+. With a considerable amount of content still missing due to the content purge, it is unclear where this media will end up if it eventually makes a comeback.
