Summary
Co-creator Simon Kinberg reveals plans for Invasion season 3 and envisions season 4 as the final conflict and resolution.
The development of scripts for season 3 of Invasion was initiated prior to the occurrence of the writers' strike, and the feedback for season 2 has been highly favorable. Apple TV has expressed satisfaction with the show, thereby heightening the probability of its renewal for subsequent seasons.
The co-creator of Invasion season 3 offers an optimistic update. The Apple TV show, co-created by Simon Kinberg and David Weil, tells a sci-fi story where an alien species threatens the existence of humanity. Currently in its second season, Invasion's final episode will air on October 25.
As season 2 nears its end, Kinberg shares an update on Invasion season 3. In an interview with SlashFilm, Kinberg reveals that he viewed the second season as the first part of a larger series. He also mentions that he has a vision for Invasion that extends up to season 4. Furthermore, scripts for Invasion season 3 were in development before the strike began. See the full quote from Kinberg below.
I viewed the second season as the initial part, akin to the first 30 minutes of the second act in a movie, where the action truly begins. In my hopes and aspirations, I imagine a season 3 to be like the latter portion of the second act in a movie, where the action intensifies, and the challenges appear insurmountable. If we are fortunate enough to have a fourth season, it would represent the third act, filled with ultimate conflict and resolution. Hence, there was a gradual progression that resembled the structure of a film.
We were actively working on the scripts for season 3 before the writers' strike commenced. The response to season 2 has been overwhelmingly positive, surpassing even the success of season 1. Apple has expressed great satisfaction with the show. Thus, we remain hopeful and keep our fingers crossed for the opportunity to create season 3.
What Are The Chances Of Invasion Season 3?
In October 2021, Invasion made its debut on television. Confirmation of Season 2 came after the conclusion of the ten-episode run of Invasion Season 1. It took two years for the next season to be released on Apple TV. Currently, there is no confirmation of Invasion Season 3 as the show prepares for its Season 2 finale.
Opinions on the finale of Invasion Season 1 were divided, but Season 2 has received much better and consistent acclaim. According to Kinberg, "the response to Season 2 has been really, really positive," which increases the likelihood of Season 2 being renewed. The decision for renewal may also depend on the success of the Season 2 finale, assuming Apple TV has not already planned an announcement.
Kinberg's commentary has heightened the prospects of season 3. Apple TV's satisfaction with the show is a positive indicator for the potential renewal of the series. Should it be granted another season, audiences can expect a well-crafted storyline from Kinberg, possibly extending to Invasion season 4.
