Exciting Updates on Like a Dragon 8 & Gaiden Await!

Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio, the minds behind the Like a Dragon franchise, have announced the date for the RGG Summit to be held this summer. The event promises to unveil further details on the upcoming Like a Dragon 8 and Gaiden games. These titles will further explore the storylines introduced in Yakuza: Like a Dragon, the game's revitalized launch featuring Ichiban Kasuga as the new protagonist. The eighth installment in the series will directly follow the events of the seventh game while Gaiden will delve into the backstory of beloved protagonist Kiryu Kazuma and his involvement in LaD 8 following Yakuza 6.

Fans can expect Like a Dragon 8 to maintain the RPG gameplay introduced in Yakuza: Like a Dragon, with both Kasuga and Kiryu receiving their own party. On the other hand, the Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name spin-off will feature a retired Kiryu, now a monk, on a solo mission. Unlike the eighth game, Gaiden will revert to its original action-brawler style, which fans are familiar with. Stay tuned for more information on both games this June.

RGG Studio's official Twitter account recently announced the date for the highly anticipated RGG Summit. The showcase will be held on June 15, 2023, at 11 PM EST and promises to be an exciting event for fans of the studio. Interestingly, this event will take place just a week after Summer Game Fest, which Sega is also set to participate in. It remains to be seen if Summer Games Fest will feature either of these games before the RGG Summit event. Last year's RGG Summit event, held just a day before the Tokyo Game Show 2022, revealed the brand-new entry in the series, Like a Dragon 8, and the spin-off with jaw-dropping cinematic trailers. With Gaiden set for release later this year, it is highly likely that this upcoming event will feature one or both of these games.

The release date for Like a Dragon 8 has not yet been announced, much like its predecessor Gaiden. However, the upcoming event may provide fans with a clearer idea of when they can expect the games to be released, and even offer a glimpse of the gameplay. As of now, fans will have to wait until June for any updates from RGG Studio. When it does finally release, Like a Dragon 8 will be available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S in 2024.
