Tekken 8's Closed Network Test has sparked excitement amongst fans with the return of Claudio Serafino, a fighter who debuted in Tekken 7. Bandai Namco's highly anticipated 3D fighting game has been generating buzz all year, as the roster of fighters has slowly been unveiled. The roster includes familiar faces such as Jin Kazuma and Kazuya Mishima, fan favorites from previous games like Hwoarang and Bryan Fury, as well as newer additions like Tekken 7's Leroy Smith. Players will have the opportunity to try out the current roster, as well as one additional character, during the upcoming Closed Network Test. The test, which was first leaked on SteamDB, has been officially announced by Bandai Namco and includes a teaser for the reveal of Claudio Serafino.
The Tekken 8 video showcases the revealed roster and their unique attack animations, as well as special matchup intros. Fans are also given the date for the Closed Network Test, which is set to begin on July 21, 2023. Towards the end of the video, viewers are treated to a sneak peek of Claudio, who summons a circle of light around him. Claudio, who was first introduced in Tekken 7, is the leader of the Archers of Sirius and is known as "the world's strongest exorcist." Given his return in Tekken 8, it is possible that Claudio's story may tie into the game's overall narrative, especially with the presence of fellow light power user and spirit purifier, Jun Kazama.
Players will have the chance to experience online gameplay of Tekken 8 during the Closed Network Test. The playtest will include all 16 characters, including Claudio, that have been revealed so far. Early access on PS5 will be available from July 21-24, 2023, with the second wave launching on all three platforms with crossplay from July 28-31, 2023. To participate, players must sign up and codes will be distributed to winners in the future. Tekken 8 is currently in development for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
