Pokemon Unite is set to introduce a new playable character in a few weeks, and it happens to be Mewtwo, a beloved fan-favorite from the original 151 creatures. The Pokemon-themed MOBA has been steadily expanding its roster in the past couple of years, with the recent additions of Umbreon and Leafeon. 2023 has been an eventful year for Pokemon Unite so far, and there are still many exciting additions to come.

The current roster of playable creatures in Pokemon Unite strikes a good balance between popular choices and more unexpected picks, all of which offer an engaging gameplay experience. For instance, Buzzwole, an Ultra Beast resembling a colossal mosquito with impressive muscles, serves as a unique addition to the Unite roster. Buzzwole joined the game as part of the first anniversary event for Pokemon Unite.

Pokemon Unite is adding the legendary Pokemon Mewtwo to the roster on July 21, 2023, which marks the game's second anniversary. Interestingly, it seems that there will not only be one, but two versions of the feline Psychic Pokemon being introduced. Mega Mewtwo X will be released first on the Pokemon Unite launch anniversary, while Mega Mewtwo Y is scheduled for release sometime in August. The specific roles that each version will play are currently unknown; however, fans have been speculating that Mega Mewtwo X could potentially be an All-Rounder, while Mega Mewtwo Y might specialize as an attacker. It should be noted that there has been no official confirmation regarding their respective roles at this time.

When Will Mewtwo Be Added to Pokemon Unite?

Mewtwo, an iconic creature in the Pokemon franchise, gained popularity as the antagonist in the 1998 film "Pokemon: The First Movie" and played a significant role in the Detective Pikachu spinoff. Additionally, Mewtwo made an appearance in the announcement trailer for "Detective Pikachu Returns," set to release later this year.

Mewtwo will be added to the Unite roster in a few weeks, but in the meantime, fans of the Pokemon MOBA can expect Inteleon to arrive on July 3. Inteleon is the fully evolved form of Sobble, the Generation 8 Water-type starter. It will be intriguing to observe how Mewtwo affects the game's balance upon its release.
