Overwatch 2 will reveal its new tank hero at BlizzCon 2023, following its pattern of adding a new hero every other season.
Top contenders for the new hero include Yuna, a skilled MEKA pilot, and Mauga, a former associate of Baptiste, with evidences favoring Mauga.
In addition, BlizzCon will showcase the Overwatch World Cup and introduce thrilling enhancements for WoW, Hearthstone, and Diablo 4, all accessible via live stream to players worldwide.
The upcoming BlizzCon 2023 will unveil Overwatch 2's latest hero, specifically a tank, during Season 8 on November 3. In addition to the three heroes released alongside the game's debut, Overwatch 2 has consistently introduced a new hero every other season. This pattern ensures that players can anticipate a fresh character to engage with every four months. Notably, Season 2 introduced the tank hero Ramattra, while support heroes Lifeweaver and Illari made their appearances in Seasons 4 and 6 respectively. Following this schedule, the next hero, also a tank, is projected to debut in Season 8.
Blizzard has announced the date for the reveal of the new Overwatch 2 hero. In the announcement for the last wave of tickets for BlizzCon, Blizzard showcased a picture displaying the activities that will take place at the convention. Fans noticed a box labeled "Meet the New Hero" with the tank role logo next to it, confirming that Overwatch 2 will introduce the character at BlizzCon.
There are several possibilities for the identity of the next Overwatch 2 hero. Yuna, a fellow MEKA pilot of D.Va, who wields a sword and shield-equipped mech, is a popular contender. However, many players believe that Mauga, Baptiste's formidable former partner, is the leading guess. The announcement box also includes bullet holes in the background, which may serve as an additional clue pointing towards Mauga, given his use of a powerful assault weapon.
In addition to that thrilling news, the Overwatch World Cup will also be held during the convention. This competition will showcase teams of highly skilled players who will compete against each other to determine the first champions of the Overwatch 2 era.
But that's not all! BlizzCon will host a variety of exciting events outside of Overwatch 2. With Chris Metzen returning as the creative director of Warcraft, WoW has exciting surprises in store for both Classic and retail versions. Warcraft Rumble will feature exhibition matches, with a full launch expected either alongside or immediately after the convention. Hearthstone will offer a Duel-a-Dev contest and present a new demo, while Diablo 4 will thrill attendees with numerous art exhibits and immersive experiences. Don't worry if you can't attend in person, as all activities from the BlizzCon Arena will be livestreamed worldwide, ensuring that players won't miss any of the major announcements.
Overwatch 2 is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
