Fans of The Summer I Turned Pretty will have to wait a bit longer for season 3. During the upfront presentation by Prime Video on Tuesday, May 14, Jennifer Salke, head of Amazon MGM Studios, along with show creator Jenny Han and stars Lola Tung, Christopher Briney, and Gavin Casalegno, revealed that the third season is scheduled to premiere in the summer of 2025. Excitingly, the group also announced that there will be 11 new episodes for fans to enjoy.
Production is currently underway on the third season, which draws inspiration from Han’s book series of the same name. The Summer I Turned Pretty revolves around Belly (Tung), who finds herself entangled in a love triangle with two brothers. As she navigates her feelings for Conrad (Briney), she begins to question if Jeremiah (Casalegno) might actually be her perfect match.
Aside from the main trio, viewers have also had the opportunity to delve deeper into Belly’s brother, Steven (Sean Kaufman), her mother, Laurel (Jackie Chung), and her best friend Taylor (Rain Spencer). The original book trilogy concluded with Belly making a choice between the brothers in We’ll Always Have Summer, a decision that is likely to influence the upcoming third season of the series.
The creative team working on The Summer I Turned Pretty has not revealed if the show will stick to the events of the book series or if there will be alterations.
However, Casalegno, 24, has expressed his backing for a possible change to the outcome of the main love triangle.
