Disney recently removed several shows and movies from its streaming service, Disney+. This decision was perplexing as much of the content was specifically created for the platform and had premiered only a few months earlier. Interestingly, the removed content is now being quietly re-released on other platforms. So, if you were disappointed by the removal of certain movies like Crater, Artemis Fowl, Stargirl, and The One And Only Ivan, you now have the opportunity to watch them outside of Disney+.
However, there's one major drawback to this entire situation: the movies in question aren't actually being made available on other streaming platforms. Instead, they are exclusively accessible on PVOD (premium video on demand) platforms like Google TV, Amazon, and Vudu. In order to watch these movies, you'll have to either purchase them for $20 or rent them for a limited time. While it's a positive development that the movies aren't completely lost (except through piracy) and can be viewed online once again, it does mean that you'll have to pay for each movie individually, regardless of whether you intend to own it or simply want to watch it for a brief period.
Regrettably, the TV shows that Disney removed from Disney+ have yet to become available on other platforms. Only a few of the movies have made their way to other platforms. For instance, the much-awaited series "The World According to Jeff Goldblum" and the 2022 adaptation of the beloved 1988 film "Willow" cannot be found anywhere. Due to their removal from the Disney+ streaming service, the majority of these shows can only be accessed through piracy, since they were not previously released on Blu-ray or other formats.
