Exciting New Writing Update for Night Agent Season 2 Sparks Joy After WGA Strike Resolution

Night Agent Season 2, eagerly awaited by fans, receives a promising writing update from the creator after the WGA strike concludes Excitement builds as the highly-anticipated season resumes production, having been halted halfway due to the strike

Summary

The Night Agent season 2 scripts were halfway complete before the 2023 writers strike and have been in progress again since early October.

The Night Agent's creator, Shawn Ryan, has confirmed that the show is making significant progress following the recent agreement of the writers union. Within just 25 days of its release, season 1 of The Night Agent became a remarkable success on Netflix, ranking as the sixth most-watched show in history.

The creator of The Night Agent has given a positive update on season 2. Gabriel Basso stars in this Netflix thriller as Peter Sutherland, an FBI agent who uncovers a dangerous conspiracy through a mysterious phone call at the White House. The show has been a hit on the streaming service, becoming the sixth most-viewed Netflix show of all time within its first 25 days.

Responding to a tweet stating that the season 2 scripts were halfway complete before the 2023 writers strike and have resumed progress since early October, creator Shawn Ryan quoted the post.

When Will The Night Agent Season 2 Return?

Ryan's brief remark, "Fact Check: True," signifies that although not all the projects affected by the Writers Guild of America's strike for equitable compensation have resumed production, The Night Agent is certainly among those making strides following the union's recent agreement.

Despite the writers room reopening, there is anticipated to be a longer than usual hiatus following the Night Agent season 1 finale. The finale, along with the rest of the season, aired on March 23. While the Writers Guild of America (WGA) reached an agreement with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP), the Screen Actors Guild (SAG-AFTRA) remains on strike. Although some progress seemed to have been made, negotiations recently hit a roadblock when the AMPTP abruptly left the bargaining table.

The AMPTP faces pressure to secure approval for a new contract this Fall, particularly to enable network television to effectively produce shorter episode orders for their 2023-2024 seasons. However, the latest update raises doubts about the speed of reaching a deal and the return of actors to the set. Even if an agreement is reached by the year's end and production on The Night Agent can commence promptly after script completion, there may still be a considerable delay.

The unanswered questions of The Night Agent will remain unresolved until the show resumes, which could take a while given that Netflix shoots entire seasons of their shows at once. This leads to an extended production and post-production process. Following the typical schedule for Netflix shows, it is likely that more than six months will pass after filming wraps before the season premieres. As a result, it is probable that season 2 will debut in late 2024 or early 2025.
