Desperate Housewives was known for its drama, but Eva Longoria downplayed rumors of offscreen tension on Wisteria Lane.
During an interview on the "Armchair Expert" podcast with Dax Shepard, Longoria, 48, addressed the speculation about on-set feuding, with Shepard, also 48, questioning how much of it was "factual" and how much was just "narrative about women" who couldn't get along.
Longoria stated that none of the feud discussion was true. "I remember even back then it was a narrative about women," she said. "Because there were all these shows with men on the air, and nobody was like, 'They're fighting!'" Longoria also mentioned that her costars Felicity Huffman, Marcia Cross, and Teri Hatcher supported her as they had all experienced fame from being on "hit shows" in the past.
Longoria remembered how her fellow actors had a better grasp on how to handle fame and the narrative surrounding them. She realized that the rumors of fighting were just a narrative created by society due to their age and status on a television show. Longoria admitted that she wasn't even smart enough at the time to fully comprehend this. She also mentioned that the cast was so consumed by working on Desperate Housewives that they were oblivious to what was happening off-camera. They were always on the set and rarely had the chance to step outside of themselves and notice the noise existing outside of their bubble with the crew and each other.
The director of Flamin’ Hot expressed that the demanding schedule left little room to savor the worldwide success of the show, which aired on ABC from 2004 to 2012.
Eva Longoria, Nicollette Sheridan, Felicity Huffman, Teri Hatcher, and Marcia Cross were the cast of 'Desperate Housewives.' The rumored feuds between the women didn't affect Longoria, who was often too exhausted from working to pay attention to the stories. She often forgets about the feuds and how much they were talked about.
In 2019, Longoria shared that she was mistreated on set by a co-worker and though she didn't name who it was, she did mention that Huffman, 60, intervened to put a stop to the behavior. Longoria admitted that working with the individual was incredibly difficult and that Huffman stepped in to end the mistreatment, which she expressed her gratitude for in a letter supporting Huffman during her college admissions scandal trial. She credited Huffman with helping her through a challenging 10 years.
Huffman pleaded guilty to honest services fraud in May 2019 and served 12 days in jail. She was also fined $30,000 and ordered to complete 250 hours of community service.

Downplaying the on-set drama with Shepard, Longoria's former costar Nicollette Sheridan garnered attention for suing Desperate Housewives creator Marc Cherry. After Sheridan's character, Edie Britt, was written off in season 5, the 60-year-old actress alleged that Cherry, 61, removed her from the show in response to her complaint about an alleged incident where he struck her in the head.
A judge dismissed Sheridan’s lawsuit in early 2017 after a 2012 mistrial. Cherry, meanwhile, denied Sheridan’s allegations.
