Microsoft is currently placing a high emphasis on AI, which has become a trending topic within the company. Following the positive response to Bing's chatbot, Microsoft decided to fully embrace the AI field. Among the notable advancements in generative AI is Windows Copilot, which is now open for general testing.
Windows Copilot, Microsoft's AI technology integrated into Windows 11, is now being rolled out to specific Insiders who have updated to the latest Windows version. To access it, you will need Windows 11 build 23493 from the Dev channel and Microsoft Edge version 115.0.1901.150. It is important to note that this is different from Microsoft's 365 Copilot, which offers AI assistance for Microsoft Word, Excel, or PowerPoint. Instead, Windows Copilot provides a chatbot for the overall operating system.
Windows Copilot functions as a non-intrusive sidebar that assists with OS actions in addition to the existing Bing AI features. For example, you can ask it to activate dark mode, scan the contents of a web tab or window, or capture a screenshot. The possibilities are limitless, and they will improve as Microsoft prepares to make Copilot available to all Windows 11 users in the coming months.
To give it a go, sign up for the Insider program and access the latest Dev build. Please note that it may not be available to you right away, as it might be rolled out gradually. Furthermore, please be aware that Insider builds are pre-release versions, meaning you may come across glitches and malfunctions. If you prioritize stability, it's advisable to steer clear of these Windows builds.
