Windows users can now enjoy the convenience of a true AI assistant with the launch of Windows Copilot. Microsoft had previously introduced a shortcut to the Bing Chat AI, but this deeper integration takes it to a whole new level. The Windows Copilot promises to revolutionize the way users interact with their devices, making tasks simpler and more efficient.

Microsoft has recently unveiled a new AI assistant for Windows, called Windows Copilot. This upgraded version features the same core technology as Bing Chat and ChatGPT, and boasts a text box interface and sidebar layout similar to that of Bing Chat in the Edge browser. However, Windows Copilot is more closely integrated with Windows and has a wider range of functions, such as text copying and pasting, window snapping, screenshot capturing, and other tasks based on text prompts.

According to a blog post from Microsoft, invoking Windows Copilot is easy and familiar, as the button is prominently displayed on the taskbar. Once launched, the Windows Copilot sidebar remains consistent across all apps, programs, and windows, serving as a personal assistant to every user. With its ability to help users take action, customize settings, and seamlessly connect across various apps, Windows Copilot makes every user a power user.

There is enormous potential for impressive use cases with Bing Chat. Imagine asking the chatbot about the content of the application you are currently using or summarizing files from your PC without having to use Edge or any other dedicated application. However, the real-world performance remains to be seen. At the very least, it will provide a more convenient way to access Bing Chat. Windows Copilot will also support Bing Chat plugins, adding to its functionality.

Microsoft plans to roll out Windows Copilot for testing in June, with a full release coming later.
