Stefania Spampinato got emotional during the final table read for the series finale of Station 19. In a video shared on Station 19's official Instagram page on Tuesday, May 21, the 41-year-old actress revealed that most of the cast members were in tears. Spampinato mentioned that Peter Paige, who plays a role in the series, cried throughout the whole read, but she jokingly added that it's not surprising as he tends to cry often.
The clip transitioned to the day the cast gathered to read through the last episode, which will be split into two parts. The first half is set to air on Friday, May 24. Tissues were placed around the room as the group took their seats. During the reading, Spampinato was seen covering her head with a towel as tears streamed down her face.
Sitting beside her on-screen wife, Danielle Savre, Spampinato found comfort in her costar's presence as she openly cried. While Savre managed to hold back her own tears during the emotional reading, the 35-year-old actress expressed her gratitude for the seven seasons the series had provided her.
Savre expressed her gratitude for the seven wonderful years and 100 episodes of the show, calling it a rare gift that has created countless amazing memories.
As the show nears its end, Savre hopes to carry with her a feeling of gratitude. On the other hand, Spampinato is not yet ready to say goodbye, especially to the friendships she has formed.

"I think it's more of a 'see you soon' rather than a final goodbye," she said. "Let's just keep it at that. No need for goodbyes."
Spampinato first appeared on Station 19 during season 3, reprising her role as Dr. Carina DeLuca from Grey's Anatomy. She became a series regular in season 4 and eventually became romantically involved with Savre's character, Maya Bishop.
ABC made an announcement in December 2023 that Station 19 would be ending with a shortened season 7. Shonda Rhimes, the creator of Grey’s Anatomy and an executive producer on Station 19, responded to the news of the cancellation.
Rhimes, 53, expressed her gratitude for the incredible journey in a post on Instagram. She thanked the talented cast for bringing the characters to life and the dedicated viewers for their support. She ended her message with appreciation for the magic, moments, and memories created on the show. #station19.
The part one of the Station 19 finale airs on ABC Friday, May 24 at 10 p.m. ET.
Editor's P/S:
The final table read for the series finale of "Station 19" was an emotional experience for the cast, with many of them shedding tears. Stefania Spampinato, who plays Dr. Carina DeLuca, got particularly emotional, covering her head with a towel as tears streamed down her face. She later said that she was not yet ready to say goodbye to the friendships she had formed on the show.
Spampinato's emotional reaction is understandable, given the close bonds that the cast and crew have formed over the seven seasons of the show. "Station 19" has been a huge part of her life, and it is difficult to say goodbye to something that has been so meaningful. However, Spampinato's hopeful outlook is also inspiring. She sees the end of the show as a "see you soon" rather than a final goodbye, and she is confident that the friendships she has made will continue to grow and thrive.
