Emma Stone Delights in 'Saturday Night Live' Comeback as a Meaningful Night for Her and Husband Dave McCary

Emma Stone's highly anticipated return to 'Saturday Night Live' became an extraordinary evening for her and husband Dave McCary The talented actress expressed her love and appreciation for McCary during her hosting gig on December 2, making it a truly special night for the couple

During the Saturday, December 2, episode of Saturday Night Live, Emma Stone made history by becoming the youngest member of the elusive five-timers club. However, this is not the standout moment of her appearance on the show.

"I've created countless memories and made numerous friends here, and I even crossed paths with my husband at SNL," Stone, 35, shared in her SNL monologue with an eager smile lighting up her face, mentioning her spouse Dave McCary. "I know he's not comfortable in front of the camera, he's not a performer, but this is such a significant night for us. I'd really appreciate it if the cameras could focus on him, if that's alright."

The camera then shifted to show an unsmiling Lorne Michaels, the long-time producer of SNL, instead of McCrary, 38.

Stone playfully declared her affection for Michaels, 79, quipping, "I love you so much, honey," as she blew a kiss. Achieving the milestone of joining the five-timers club on Saturday, the actress received special cameos from fellow members Tina Fey and Candice Bergen during her monologue, having previously hosted the NBC sketch comedy series in 2010, 2011, 2016 and 2019.

“At 35 years old, you are officially the youngest member. I am the second youngest at 53,” Fey added before Bergen, 77, chimed in that Stone was making “herstory.”

“Stick Season” singer Noah Kahan served as the musical guest on Saturday, which marked his own debut on the variety series.

In her monologue, Emma Stone expressed that Saturday Night Live is particularly meaningful to her and McCary because they first met on the set in December 2016. McCary directed Stone in a sketch called "Wells for Boys" while she was hosting, and they became a couple in June 2017.

Although they have kept their relationship low-key, the couple has occasionally shared glimpses of their romance. McCary announced their engagement on Instagram in December 2019 by posting a photo of them together, with Stone proudly displaying her ring.

Stone and McCary got married in 2020 and we exclusively shared the news in January 2021 that they were expecting their first child. Their daughter was born in March of the same year.

Before Louise was born, Stone openly expressed her desire to start a family. In a September 2018 interview with Elle, she stated, "My perspective about kids has changed as I've gotten older. I never babysat or anything. As a teenager, I was like, 'I'm never getting married, I'm never having kids.' And then I got older and I was like, 'I really want to get married, I really want to have kids.'"

During her undisclosed pregnancy, Stone confided to Entertainment Tonight in November 2020 that she was "excited to start my own family."

After giving birth, Stone chose to go back to work, a decision fully endorsed by McCary. "For Emma, giving up acting to be a full-time mother would be like losing a part of herself. It's just not who she is," a source revealed exclusively to Us in September. "Acting is essential to her, and Dave fully supports her."

As Stone adapted to being a mother, her daughter remained her constant companion. "She's able to bring Louise to the set with her and that makes a huge difference," the insider noted. "There is no shortage of people in her circle willing to help with Louise — and Emma is grateful to them."

Stone and McCary's relationship has continued to thrive since becoming parents. "They adore their small family. Louise has brought them immense happiness and they are evolving and gaining wisdom each day," the source explained. "They are united in this journey. Emma's Hollywood aspirations, drive, and determination to excel in her work motivates her, and she believes that pursuing her passion will also make her a better mother."
