Emma Kenney expressed her excitement at seeing her former Shameless costar Jeremy Allen White succeeding in his career. "I'm incredibly proud of him! I saw this coming," said the 24-year-old exclusively to We at the Art of Elysium HEAVEN Gala on Saturday, January 6. The organization supports the underserved through art and social change. "I'm elated for him. No one else is more deserving."
When talking about White's accomplishments, the actress praised his dedication to his art, emphasizing, "Everyone needs to recognize how devoted he is as an actor and how fully committed he is." Kenney and White, both 32, portrayed siblings on the popular Showtime series Shameless. The show, which had an 11-season run, centered around the Gallagher family as they navigated through poverty, relationships, criminal activities, and schemes while residing in the South Side of Chicago. Shameless also featured performances by William H. Macy, Emmy Rossum, Shanola Hampton, Steve Howey, Cameron Monaghan, Noel Fisher, and others.
White portrayed the character of the eldest Gallagher son, Lip, bringing depth and complexity to the role. Despite his intelligence, Lip battled with alcohol addiction, mirroring his father's struggles. Following the conclusion of Shameless, White gained widespread recognition for his roles in Hulu’s The Bear and as the iconic wrestler Kerry Von Erich in The Iron Claw.
One day before White won big at the Golden Globes, Kenney opened up to Us about potentially collaborating with her former costar again in the future.
