One fortunate auction winner spent thousands of dollars for a walk-on role in season 5 of Emily in Paris. However, Netflix has not confirmed the renewal of the series yet.
At the amfAR Gala's auction during the Cannes Film Festival on May 23, a prize was auctioned off. It included a brief appearance on the upcoming fifth season of Emily in Paris and an opportunity to attend the season 4 premiere in Los Angeles.
The winner of the auction paid €250,000 (equivalent to 271,226 USD) for the opportunity, as reported by Variety. The series, with Winnie Harlow and Paris Jackson as onstage presenters, is scheduled to start filming in mid-2025. Emily in Paris season 4 is set to premiere on Netflix on August 15, with Part 2 releasing on September 12.
Although the prize may seem like a dream come true, Netflix has not yet approved season 5, as mentioned by the outlet. Despite the positive update on filming from Harlow and Jackson, the auction description has been revised to acknowledge the uncertainty surrounding the show's future.
The official amfAR auction website states that the winning bidder of the walk-on role will get to spend a day on set in Paris during filming. However, this is contingent upon season 5 pickup. Variety reported that the initial language in the auction booklet did not mention the contingency and hinted that season 5 was already being planned.
The future of season 5 is uncertain, but fans are eagerly anticipating the premiere of season 4 after a long wait of almost two years.

In the dramatic season 3 finale that aired in December 2022, Gabriel (Lucas Bravo) and Camille (Camille Razat) break up at the altar because of his feelings for Emily (Lily Collins). When Alfie (Lucien Laviscount) learns about the situation, he decides to end his relationship with Emily, leading her back to Gabriel.
Creator Darren Star shared with E! News in the same month, "There’s a lot more story to tell here and we’re not wrapping things up anytime soon. I feel like we’re all creatively feeling like we’re in the middle of something not heading towards the end."
The show was approved for season 4 at the same time as season 3 in January 2020. Variety reported in June 2023 that production for season 4 was postponed due to the WGA writers' strike.
Star, 62, revealed that Emily and Gabriel may not have an easy path to their happily ever after.
"They are like star-crossed lovers," Starr shared with Deadline in December 2022. "I believe a key question for the upcoming season is whether Emily came to Paris for love or for work. Both Emily and Gabriel are at a more mature and complex stage in their lives now."
During a Netflix Tudum event in June 2023, Collins, aged 35, hinted at an "unexpected twist" in season 4. She mentioned, "Emily will need to figure out if her desires align with her true needs."
