Newcastle's young talent, Elliot Anderson, has earned a spot in the Scotland squad for their upcoming Euro 2024 qualifier against Cyprus and friendly match against England. The 20-year-old, who is eligible through his grandmother from Glasgow, has already represented the Scotland U21s, earning one cap.
He had previously represented England at younger age levels.

The midfielder has played in 26 games for the Magpies and was substituted in Sunday's 2-1 loss to Liverpool. Che Adams and Scott McKenna have returned to the squad, however, Celtic's Greg Taylor and Anthony Ralston, as well as Liam Cooper and Dominic Hyam, have been excluded.

Che Adams has returned to the Scotland squad following his absence due to an ankle problem during the June matches against Denmark and Norway. Meanwhile, Nottingham Forrest's McKenna has been excluded from the previous two squads as a result of a hamstring injury.
In their upcoming match on September 8, Scotland, who currently lead Group A with a perfect record of four wins in their first four qualifiers, will be travelling to Cyprus.
Following that, on September 12, Steve Clarke's team will face England at Hampden Park. This occasion holds special significance as it commemorates the historic first meeting between these two teams in Glasgow back in 1872, acknowledged by FIFA as the inaugural international match.

Souttar: Qualifying does feel close
Scotland and Rangers defender John Souttar speaking to We:
Qualification feels within reach, without a doubt. It is widely acknowledged throughout the country that we are nearing our goal, yet we are fully aware of the necessary further efforts to secure our qualification.
Our achievements thus far have been remarkable, positioning us favorably. However, there is still a considerable distance ahead, and we must focus on accumulating the crucial points that will ensure our successful qualification.
"It is a thrilling moment for everyone involved, particularly considering the outcome in Norway. The determination displayed by the boy to recover from being 1-0 behind and score those two goals was impressive.
"It demonstrates the transformation we have experienced as a nation, as I recall growing up and watching Scotland play, where going a goal down instilled a sense of dread. I'm certain that everyone can relate to that feeling."
The Cyprus game holds immense significance, capturing the attention of everyone. Playing against England is an opportunity for personal growth and an occasion to eagerly anticipate.
