Elle King recently spoke out about being heavily intoxicated during her performance at the Grand Ole Opry in January, where she was paying tribute to Dolly Parton. In a video shared on Instagram on Sunday, March 10, the 34-year-old singer thanked her supporters for their love and also addressed those who sent her hateful messages, expressing love towards them as well.
King was seen in a clip doing a cardio workout by running up the stairs of a concert venue that was empty. She captioned the post with "Oh no was my human showing," and included the hashtag #WWDD, which is believed to stand for "What would Dolly do?"
The post was shared one week after the singer made a comeback on social media with a series of pictures from her recent shows.

Parton, on her part, has already commented on the situation. In a February interview with E! News, the 78-year-old singer referred to Elle King as a "doll." Parton reached out to King and suggested focusing on positive "F-words" like forgiveness, friends, and forgetting.
King first made headlines on January 19 when videos surfaced of her slurring her words and using profanity on stage. She later admitted to being under the influence of alcohol.
"You won't be getting a refund," King responded to a heckler. She continued, "One more thing: 'Hi, I'm Elle King and I'm pretty drunk.'"
King was among the performers at the "Opry Goes Dolly" event, celebrating Dolly Parton's 78th birthday. Many attendees were upset by her behavior, with some even feeling that she had spoiled the evening.
One social media user expressed disappointment over Elle King's performance at The Opry, describing it as horrible, drunk, and profane. They even mentioned that Dolly Parton would not have approved. It was their first time at The Opry, and they felt it was a shame to witness such a performance.
The Opry later issued an apology on behalf of Elle King, acknowledging and regretting the language used during her second performance at The Opry.
Billy Bob’s Texas recently announced that King’s scheduled January performance has been rescheduled to September 21. The venue did not provide a specific reason for the change but assured ticket holders that refunds are available for those who are unable to attend the new date.

The next day, King announced that her Texas show would be postponed and that her four February shows in Shipshewana, Indiana, Waukegan, Illinois, and Harris, Michigan were canceled. These February gigs were rescheduled for late March.
Your tickets will be valid for the new dates," the musician shared on her Instagram Story on January 25. If you can't make it to the rescheduled date, refunds are available where you bought your tickets. Hope to see you there!
Although King didn't explain the reason for the change in tour dates, some fans guessed it might be connected to the criticism she faced after the intoxicated Grand Ole Opry performance.
One user commented on Billy Bob's Texas' post, saying, "That Dolly Parton event is causing quite a stir." Another user responded, "Uh-oh! Looks like someone's in trouble!"
In a previous interview with the San Diego Union-Tribune in February 2022, King shared about his struggles with substance abuse. The "Ex's & Oh's" singer admitted, "I enjoy drinking while I sing because it helps me feel less anxious about hitting the right notes."
Despite enjoying alcohol before her gigs, King insisted, “I don’t want to get as drunk as I used to.”
