Edwin van der Sar, the former goalkeeper of Manchester United, has been transferred to a Dutch hospital and is currently in intensive care following a brain hemorrhage he suffered last week. According to his wife Annemarie, the 52-year-old was hospitalized in Split, Croatia, where he had been vacationing. Although he will continue to receive treatment in the intensive care unit, his condition is stable and he is no longer in immediate peril.
According to Annemarie, Edwin has been brought back to the Netherlands from Croatia on Friday evening and is currently receiving intensive care in a Dutch hospital. She stated that his condition has not changed and is stable, not life-threatening, and he remains able to communicate. The Van der Sar family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the 'University Hospital of Split' for the excellent care provided to Edwin during the past week.

Van der Sar won the Premier League four times during his six years at United, as well as the Champions League in 2008, which he also lifted while at Ajax.
After retiring, he came back to Ajax in 2016 as the chief executive. However, he decided to leave the position at the conclusion of the previous season due to the disappointing results. The club finished third in the Eredivisie and failed to qualify for the Champions League. Van der Sar made the announcement of his departure after serving nearly 11 years on the club's board.
"I have a strong desire to create some space, to take a break, and pursue other activities," he tweeted towards the end of May.
"It is not a pleasant feeling to make critical decisions regarding the future of this exceptional club in the upcoming period. Hence, I have made the choice to step down."
After making over 200 appearances for Ajax and achieving European success alongside Louis van Gaal's team, the Dutch goalkeeper transferred to Juventus. Subsequently, he joined Fulham in 2001.
Four years later, he made a move to Old Trafford, where he triumphed in the League Cup on two occasions and secured the 2008 FIFA Club World Cup.
United, however, experienced defeat against Barcelona in both the 2009 Champions League final and once again at Wembley in 2011. It was after this match that Van der Sar decided to retire from professional football. Throughout his career, Van der Sar represented the Netherlands in 130 matches and held the record for the highest number of appearances for a period of time.
