Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson made a grand return to the WWE ring after 11 years during the main event of Wrestlemania 40 on Saturday, April 6.

Despite the long absence, Johnson showed no signs of rust as he pinned Cody Rhodes during Night 1 of the event at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia.

Teaming up with his "cousin" Roman Reigns, now known as the menacing Final Boss, they defeated Rhodes and Seth Rollins, setting the stage for the Bloodline rules in the upcoming WWE Championship contest on Sunday night.

For WWE fans, The Rock's return on Saturday was exciting for many reasons. During the match, Reigns accidentally speared his cousin, setting the stage for a potential Rock vs. Reigns feud, possibly at next year's Wrestlemania. There is also speculation that The Rock may turn on Reigns during the main event of Wrestlemania on Sunday, possibly costing his cousin the match and the title.

In a recent interview on "The Will Cain Show" podcast on Friday, April 5, Johnson expressed gratitude for the fans and the support for his return to WWE as The Final Boss. He also mentioned his appreciation for the wrestlers in the locker room, acknowledging that he can be disruptive but aims to elevate the entire team with his presence. The camaraderie in the locker room has been exceptional during his return.

Johnson currently serves on the board of directors of TKO Group, the parent company of WWE and the UFC. He also has complete ownership of the name, image, and likeness of his famous character, "The Rock," as reported by ESPN.

After numerous previous efforts to revive his character, everything finally fell into place for The Rock's comeback in 2024. In an interview with ESPN in February, Johnson explained, "Why this year? It just felt like the timing was right. It felt like everything was aligning perfectly for us."

Fans were thrilled to see The Rock on Saturday, with Philly favorite Jason Kelce even sharing a photo with the "legend" on his "New Heights" podcast page. Kelce, 36, also joined in on the fun by stepping into the ring over the weekend. Alongside his former Eagles teammate Lane Johnson, they surprised Dominik Mysterio and Santos Escobar during their match as masked luchadores.
