Dwayne Johnson, now 51, is expressing his gratitude towards his mother for playing a crucial role in changing his life. Back when he was a troubled teenager, constantly getting into trouble with the law, his mother's support helped him turn things around.

Despite now being one of the highest grossing actors and considered one of the greatest professional wrestlers, Johnson's future looked grim during his time at Freedom High School in Bethlehem Township, Pennsylvania. He was frequently arrested for theft and check fraud, and even got suspended for two weeks due to a fight.

Dwayne, the Fast Five actor, credits his mother, Ata Johnson, for being the driving force behind his transformation.

In an interview with People on April 10, Dwayne shared, "My mom has always been there for me, always my biggest fan. Even during my rebellious high school days when I was getting into trouble and getting arrested, she would say, 'I believe the world will hear from you one day.' This was even as she was picking me up from the police station! Her love and support knew no bounds."

Dwayne thought about what advice he would give his younger self during his challenging youth.

He chuckled as he imagined telling himself, "Hey, remember how you used to sneakily take Snickers from the store before hitting the gym every day? Well, one day you'll grow out of that. Why not go back to the 7-Eleven in Hawaii, buy all the Snickers you want, pay for them, and leave them there for others to enjoy."

In addition to his mother's advice, the Jumanji star turned to sports to turn away from his involvement in petty crimes. He participated in football, track and field, and wrestling teams at Freedom High School.

Dwayne Johnson tried to make it as a professional football player in Canada, but when he didn't make the team, he decided to pursue a career in wrestling instead.

He shared with People that he felt confident he was heading in the right direction when he entered his first competition in New York City in 1996.

Reflecting on his wrestling journey, he mentioned that he didn't begin in the grand stage of WWE. Instead, he started his career in Tennessee with a company named USWA. He talked about earning his stripes by wrestling in small venues for a modest payment of 40 dollars per match, including barns and flea markets.

Dwayne, also known as the action star, shared a memorable experience from his early days as a WWE superstar. He recalled his first match taking place in Madison Square Garden as a rookie. Before going out, he was informed that he would win that night, emphasizing the significance of the venue and the city of New York. With determination, he entered the ring and by the end of the match, he was met with loud chants of his name from the 22,000-strong crowd. This moment was particularly emotional for him as he imagined his parents back home in Tampa, likely overwhelmed with pride.

In addition to his wrestling career, Dwayne cherished a special moment celebrating his mother's 75th birthday in October 2023. He shared a heartwarming Instagram video of his mom playing the ukulele while they sang a special birthday song together. This intimate moment captured the love and bond between them, creating a lasting memory for Dwayne and his family.

He wrote, "Happy Birthday Mom!! 75 years of experience, wisdom, hard times, good times, laughter, mana, and yet thru it all — you TRULY have the KINDEST HEART I have ever known. I feel like the luckiest son on earth."
