Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's wax figure at the Musée Grévin in Paris, France, is undergoing a transformation after receiving criticism for inaccurately portraying the actor's multi-ethnic background.
Johnson joined the discussion by announcing on social media his plan to collaborate with Grevin Museum in Paris, France. He expressed the intention to update his wax figure by incorporating vital details and enhancements, beginning with his skin tone. Subsequently, the museum confirmed their commitment to undertake the necessary modifications.
The Musée Grévin Instagram account shared an Instastory on Monday, informing followers that the wax figure of Dwayne Johnson is currently being enhanced. The post mentioned that the museum's artists are already working on improving the waxwork and expressed appreciation for any feedback from the audience.
The museum faced allegations of whitewashing the actor's portrayal. Johnson's father, Rocky Johnson, was of Black Nova Scotian ancestry, while his mother, Ata Maivia, is Samoan. According to the museum's website, the sculptor Stéphane Barret had to use photographs and videos to create a lifelike statue of Dwayne Johnson, as he was unable to work directly with the global star.
