After 25 years, watching The Wedding Singer still brings tears to Drew Barrymore's eyes. The 48-year-old talk show host revisited the 1998 romantic comedy on January 10 and shared an Instagram video showing her crying while watching it with costar Adam Sandler.
While getting ready to leave the house, I couldn't resist watching "The Wedding Singer" that was playing on my TV, Barrymore wrote. She then expressed her affection for Sandler, acknowledging the success of their movie and sending him New Year wishes.
In the movie, Sandler takes on the role of Robbie Hart, a wedding singer based in New Jersey in the year 1985. As his own wedding to his fiancée Linda (Angela Featherstone) is on the horizon, he crosses paths with Julia Sullivan (Barrymore), a new waitress at the reception hall where he performs and he pledges to sing at her wedding.

After Linda cancels their engagement, Robbie decides to stop performing at weddings and breaks his promise to sing at Julia’s ceremony. Despite letting her down, Julia convinces him to assist with the planning, and their bond deepens. As they become closer, Julia and Robbie must both figure out where their true feelings lie.
Barrymore and Sandler didn't just work together on The Wedding Singer. They also appeared in 50 First Dates in 2004 and Blended in 2014. When asked in March 2023, Barrymore shared with People why she loves collaborating with the comedian.

"We all adored him on SNL, and I personally love Happy Gilmore and Billy Madison," she said. "I needed an outlet for my admiration, and I felt that a film was the safest and most cathartic place to express it."
