Toei Animation's localization director, Daniel Castañeda, announced on Oct. 26 the release date and episode count for Dragon Ball Daima. In an interview with Spanish media outlet Produ, Castañeda stated that the release date is set for October 2024. As a verified Toei official, Castañeda has worked on various dubbed versions of popular anime series. He mentioned that the dubbed versions of Dragon Ball Daima will debut worldwide at the same time. According to Produ, the series will consist of 20 episodes.
"Typically, our productions follow a pattern of premiering in Japan and later being released internationally, around six months later," explains Castañeda. "This is because we prefer to wait until we have a sufficient number of episodes, around 26, to begin the dubbing process and make other necessary arrangements before launching in other territories. However, for the first time, we are planning to simultaneously launch a series worldwide. The production is currently in progress, and I anticipate that it will be completed by May of next year. We will begin the dubbing process in October 2024 for a global release. As for public television, it is likely that we will premiere it in January 2025."
Dragon Ball Daima was officially unveiled at New York Comic Con on October 13, 2023, along with the release of the official trailer. Earlier reports had stated that Daima would be released in the fall of 2024 as an ONA (original net animation) web series in celebration of Dragon Ball's 40th anniversary. Castañeda's comments shed light on the specific release timeframe, as well as the additional information that Dragon Ball Daima will also have a television release in January 2025. Unlike Dragon Ball GT, which deviated from the main storyline by featuring the main characters as children, Dragon Ball Daima is considered part of Dragon Ball's official continuity.
Akira Toriyama, the creator of the popular manga Dragon Ball, recently shared some exciting details about the upcoming Dragon Ball Daima. In this new installment, Goku, the main character, will have to utilize his Power Pole, a unique fighting tool that hasn't been seen in a while, to compensate for his small size. Toriyama personally developed the story, settings, and many of the designs, pouring more effort into this project than usual. Fans can look forward to unraveling the mysteries of the Dragon Ball World, as unexpected battles that are both adorable and powerful unfold before their eyes.
According to the official synopsis, a conspiracy will lead Goku and his friends to be transformed into miniature versions of themselves. In order to reverse this unfortunate turn of events, they embark on a thrilling adventure in a completely unfamiliar and enigmatic world. Brace yourself for exhilarating action and captivating unknowns in Dragon Ball Daima.
