At the new New York Comic-Con Dragon Ball panel on Thursday, October 12, an exciting announcement was made regarding a new anime called Dragon Ball Daima. However, fans were left surprised as this new anime seemed to deviate from the storyline in the manga, leaving them wondering if it continues the story after Dragon Ball Super.
Dragon Ball Super, the previous anime installment, concluded in 2018 with the Tournament of Power Saga. This conclusion left fans feeling disappointed, knowing they would have to wait patiently for the next anime release. Therefore, when the Dragon Ball Panel was scheduled for New York Comic-Con, fans eagerly anticipated the announcement of a Dragon Ball Super sequel anime.

Contrary to popular belief, Dragon Ball Daima is not the follow-up series to Dragon Ball Super. This fresh anime recounts an entirely unique narrative, specially crafted to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the beloved franchise.
If one were to examine the Dragon Ball Super manga, it becomes quite clear that the Galactic Patrol Prisoner Saga is the subsequent story arc following the Tournament of Power Saga. As a result, if Dragon Ball Super were to have a continuation in the form of an anime, it should have encompassed the narrative involving Moro, also known as the Consumer of Worlds.

Given that Dragon Ball Daima is an original story, it cannot be considered a direct sequel. However, there is a possibility that the new anime series is canon. Although the Dragon Ball panel does not provide much information about the series' timeline, previous leaks suggest that it takes place close to the end of Dragon Ball Z's timeline.
Furthermore, the teaser reveals Hercule Satan spending time with Goku and others, indicating that Gohan and Videl are likely already a couple. This could be a clue that the events of the new anime may occur shortly after the events of the Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero movie.

Hence, while Dragon Ball Daima is expected to carry on the story of the Dragon Ball Super manga, it will not continue the storyline of the anime. Nonetheless, one cannot assert this with absolute certainty, as there is also a chance that the events of the new anime unfold directly after the Kid Buu Saga of Dragon Ball Z.
The new antagonist observed Goku and his comrades battling against Majin Buu, exhibiting a strong fascination. This glimpse also featured moments of the sorcerer, Babidi, from the Majin Buu Saga. Consequently, there exists a possibility that the fresh villain shares some connection with this magician. This notion potentially explains the leaked information about the upcoming series being titled Dragon Ball Magic. As a result, it becomes intricate to determine whether the events of Dragon Ball Daima occur after the Kid Buu Saga or the Super Hero Saga.
