Dolly Parton expressed her excitement about the possibility of appearing in a remake of her iconic 1980 comedy, "9 to 5." During an interview with E! News on June 3, the country music legend shared her enthusiasm for the project being produced by Jennifer Aniston.

Parton, 78, expressed her excitement for Aniston's take on the movie. She recalled a conversation from years ago during the making of Dumplin', where there was talk of Aniston possibly wanting to do a remake of 9 to 5. Parton enthusiastically commented, "Oh, that would be great!"

She also mentioned her hope that her song will be used in the movie and that there might be a chance for Lily, Jane, and herself to make a comeback in some way.

Parton, Lily Tomlin and Jane Fonda starred in the movie "9 to 5" as three working women who plan to overthrow their sexist boss. Parton also wrote and performed the hit song “9 to 5” for the movie’s soundtrack. The song reached the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart and was nominated for an Oscar for Best Original Song in 1981.

Parton expressed her gratitude for being part of such a significant project, stating, “It’s amazing to be involved in something that has had such a lasting impact over the years. I believe this movie has brought important attention to gender equality and has the power to change lives.”

Jennifer Aniston, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter, is working on a new version of the film 9 to 5 with her production company Echo Films. Diablo Cody, known for writing Jennifer's Body and Juno, will be writing the script for this reimagined version.

Recently, Dolly Parton's co-stars in the original 9 to 5 film, Lily Tomlin and Jane Fonda, have expressed their excitement and support for this project.

Fonda, 86, expressed her well wishes for them, saying, "Good luck to them. It’s fun. I wish them a lot of luck. They’re very talented," during an interview with Entertainment Tonight on May 29.

Tomlin, 84, also shared her excitement, stating, "Oh, I’m very excited. I’m pleased to know that someone else is working on it and may they have successful fruition."

Before the remake was announced, the original stars had talked about doing a sequel for many years. However, in 2019, Parton mentioned that she, Tomlin, and Fonda had decided to let go of the idea.

"I don't think we're going to do the sequel. We never managed to come up with a script that was different enough from the first movie, and the first one turned out so well," Parton shared with Entertainment Tonight.
