Episode 1 recap
The first episode of Doctor Elise opens with protagonist Aoi Takamoto on a plane, which suddenly announces an emergency landing due to damage sustained. It's revealed that Aoi was an expert surgeon in her previous life, and there are hints that she has lived before based on her response to a friend's comment. This is confirmed when Aoi reminisces about her last life and the eventual death she suffered.
It's discovered that her old name was Elise de Clorence and she was the former Empress of Britia. After reincarnating as Aoi, she is determined to save as many lives and bring as much happiness to people as possible to make up for her past life as Elise. As the episode returns to the crash, Aoi laments that she would die when she could have saved so many more people's lives.
But when she awakened, she discovered she was still alive, and found herself alongside a young boy whose mother was in need of assistance. Aoi took it upon herself to care for the remaining survivors on the plane, ultimately saving them all. Just as rescue helicopters arrived, however, Aoi tragically succumbed to her own injuries.
Then, she awoke in Elise's bedroom as Elise herself. The episode concluded with Elise reuniting with her family and shedding tears, hinting at her desire to embrace a new life as Elise.
What to expect (speculative)
Now that Aoi Takamoto is gone, the second episode of Doctor Elise will introduce viewers to Elise's new life and the people in it. Since Elise's family was confirmed to be deceased at the time of her passing, the second episode will confirm that she has been reincarnated to a time before their deaths.
The second episode will also show Elise openly expressing her intention to start over and make the most of this second chance as Elise. Fans can expect to see Elise pursue a goal similar to her previous life as Aoi, as she continues to atone for her past actions by training to become a doctor.

Editor's P/S
As a Gen Z netizen, I'm eagerly anticipating the second episode of Doctor Elise. The first episode left me captivated with its intriguing premise and the introduction of the main character, Aoi Takamoto. The revelation of her past life as Elise de Clorence, the former Empress of Britia, adds a layer of complexity to her character and sets the stage for an epic journey of redemption. I can't wait to see how Elise navigates her new life and the challenges she will face as she strives to make amends for her past mistakes.
The wait for the second episode is certainly frustrating, especially with the lack of spoilers available. However, I understand the desire to maintain an element of surprise and keep fans engaged. The confirmed release date and time provide something to look forward to, and I'm confident that the wait will be worth it. I'm also excited about the opportunity to watch the episode on Crunchyroll, which has become a reliable platform for streaming anime internationally.
