Hulu has joined the growing trend among major streaming services by removing exclusive content from its library. With the shifting landscape of the streaming industry, companies are prioritizing profits and reducing their content libraries. This has resulted in multiple removals of shows over the past year, usually due to a lack of viewership compared to the costs of licensing and residuals. Unfortunately, many of these removed titles are no longer accessible to viewers.
According to Deadline, Hulu will be removing the canceled series Alaska Daily and The Company You Keep from its platform early next month. Despite Hilary Swank's Golden Globe nomination for Alaska Daily, both series only lasted one season. This decision is part of a larger write-down of $1.5-$1.8 billion, which is expected to continue in the following months. However, these removed ABC series can still be found on other video-on-demand platforms such as Amazon and iTunes. It is likely that future removals will also consist of single-season ABC programs and specials.
More to come...
