Captain Sandy Yawn from Below Deck Mediterranean and her wife, Leah Shafer, have been enjoying a fairy tale life since tying the knot.

"We had a mini honeymoon recently. My boss, John Flynn, generously let us use his new Sunseeker 90-footer with a crew. We sailed to Little Palm Island," Yawn, 59, shared in an exclusive interview with We on Friday, May 17, joined by Shafer, 50. "We had a short three-day getaway on his boat because we are busy building a new house, planning a move, and preparing for Leah's daughter's graduation."

The Bravo star shared that the island is a great escape where you can relax without any interruptions. It has become even more exclusive since the last hurricane caused significant damage.

Yawn and Shafer had a fun time riding wave runners in the crystal clear blue water and also took the time to explore the charming town in Florida.

Yawn and Shafer tied the knot earlier this month in a lovely ceremony on a yacht. They have been a couple since 2018. Although their honeymoon was shortened because of prior obligations, they are looking forward to another trip. Yawn mentioned that they enjoyed delicious food, especially since they didn't eat much before the wedding. They made up for it by eating a lot, sleeping, and relaxing in the sun and water.

“I got my fairy tale, but [in] July, [we] will probably take a trip,” Shafer said. “We’re going to do something.”

Until then, the couple are basking in their newlywed bliss.

Shafer shared with Us that at this point in their lives, every moment spent together feels like a honeymoon. It doesn't have to be planned out in advance - like yesterday, when they spontaneously decided to take a little green two-seater boat out while walking around Tampa. For them, every second together is like a honeymoon.

She expressed her gratitude for finding such a deep love at this stage of their lives, and for the support and acceptance from their family and friends. It's a beautiful love story and celebration that they are truly grateful for.

Shafer is currently in the process of changing her last name.

She expressed how surreal getting married was for her. Shafer shared that Sandy couldn't believe how amazing marriage felt and that she is now taking her name. She is in the midst of changing her name to Leah Rae Yawn, and no longer being just a girlfriend but now a wife. Shafer mentioned that when they check into a hotel, it feels great to be known as the Yawn party. It's a really good feeling for her.
