Asha and King Magnifico are played by Ariana DeBose and Chris Pine in Disney's newest animated movie, Wish. However, they are not the only well-known names in the cast.
The musical comedy tells the tale of Asha, who "makes a wish so strong that it is granted by a cosmic force — a small ball of limitless energy named Star," as per Disney's official description. Although DeBose's Asha is the film's lead character, she faces off against Pine's villainous king figure.
Aside from giving life to the animated characters in the film, both DeBose and Pine demonstrate their singing talents. Pine confessed to feeling nervous about singing alongside DeBose, a Tony Award and Oscar winner.
He told Entertainment Tonight earlier this month that it's not something he does regularly. He also mentioned that singing opposite Ariana is a big deal. DeBose praised Pine's vocal abilities.
"He's an amazing singer! I was so excited when I found out I was cast in this film because he was in Into the Woods. I don't think Chris realizes just how talented he is," she continued, praising Pine's portrayal of a "delicious" villain.
"His voice brings me joy, the way he articulates every word," DeBose expressed. "I know people will have a love-hate relationship with him, and I just enjoy observing him in action."

Ariana DeBose
DeBose stars as Asha, a teen who wishes upon a star in order to save the Kingdom of Rosas.
Chris Pine

Pine plays the villainous King Magnifico who keeps the citizens’ wishes under his control — and never grants any wishes.
Alan Tudyk
Tudyk is the perfect choice to voice the goat, Valentino, in the Disney movie, as every Disney movie needs an animal sidekick. He has previously voiced Tuk Tuk, a pet bug in Raya and the Last Dragon, and Heihei, a memorable chicken in Moana.
Angelique Cabral
Cabral’s character, Queen Amaya, is married to King Magnifico.
Victor Garber
He plays Sabino, Asha’s grandfather, who is celebrating his 100th birthday and waiting for his wish to be granted.
Harvey Guillén
Various characters were inspired by the dwarfs from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Guillén, for example, voices Gabo, who is compared to Snow White’s Grumpy.
