While Diablo 4 doesn't heavily reference its predecessor, Diablo 3, some players have questioned the whereabouts of characters like Tyrael and the Nephalem in the game's timeline. However, the game still maintains ties to the franchise's past with the return of bosses Duriel and Andariel from Diablo 2 and mentions of Deckard by Lorath. Additionally, iconic locations such as Tristram and the Hidden Camp from Diablo 3 make a comeback in Diablo 4, with the latter still largely intact and familiar to longtime fans despite the passage of time.
What Is the Hidden Camp?
Previous iterations of Diablo had Acts separated by location, with little backtracking between zones. Each Act had its own hub, similar to how D4 has major cities with crafters and vendors. In Act II, the Hidden Camp served as the hub city. After discovering the identity of a mysterious stranger and witnessing the death of Deckard Cain, the Nephalem of D3 journeys to the Hidden Camp. The camp was established secretly above Caldeum by Tyrael and Leah, Deckard's foster daughter. Unbeknownst to them, Belial, the Lord of Lies, ruled the city beneath them in disguise as a lesser evil.
Diablo 3 Hidden Camp Location in Diablo 4
From the northwestern side of the Act II hub area, you can take in the magnificent view of Caldeum from an overlook. Be sure to watch out for buzzing insects around the area, but don't let them detract from the breathtaking scenery.
To reach the Hidden Camp in Diablo 4 from Diablo 3, players need to ensure they are adequately prepared. It is recommended to complete at least Act III of the main story on one character to gain access to the Mount system in Act IV across all characters. This enables a quicker journey to the Hidden Camp unless any obstacles hinder progress, such as being knocked off or encountering a barrier.
To ensure a smoother gameplay experience in the Kehjistan region, it is recommended to level up to at least 30 before venturing too far. Unlike Fractured Peaks, Scosglen, and the Dry Steppes, Kehjistan does not adjust to the player's level. However, once you reach Level 30, survival becomes relatively easy.
New characters will have the Gea Kul waypoint unlocked, which is located in the southwest of the Kehjistan region. From there, head north and then east in a straight line until you find a road leading northeast. Follow this road until it turns sharply northwest and then southeast, being careful not to venture too far south and stumble upon Omath's Redoubt Stronghold.
Follow the road towards the southeast until you reach the Fields of Hatred zone. Avoid marking yourself for PvP and enter the town of Denshar to conveniently pick up the Waypoint. From there, head northwest on the road until you spot a place to climb up. Disembark from your mount, climb up, and walk a short distance to the east to reach the Hidden Camp, now known as the Forgotten Overlook. Though the area is mostly populated by insect enemies and environmental callbacks, the stunning view of the ruins of Caldeum makes it a worthwhile visit.
Diablo 4 is available for PC, PlayStation 4 and 5, and Xbox One and Series X|S
