This concept was carried over to all subsequent games in The Elder Scrolls franchise and Bethesda's single-player Fallout games. In these games, pickpocketing was implemented as a simple menu where players could check their success upon leaving an NPC's inventory.
Based on gameplay footage from the latest Starfield Direct, it appears that the upcoming game will have similar pickpocketing mechanics, but with a real-time inventory browsing feature. This change is part of an overall inventory overhaul that will allow players to interact in real time with all containers in the game world, similar to the looting system in Fallout 76.
