The Marvels, a forthcoming superhero ensemble film by Marvel and the sequel to Avengers: Endgame, is gearing up for its highly anticipated release.
The movie will center around Carol Danvers (Captain Marvel), Monica Rambeau (Photon), and Kamala Khan (Ms. Marvel) as they join forces to unravel the mystery behind their continuous power swaps.
Although the main focus of this film revolves around these three characters and their internal conflicts, a recent teaser may have unintentionally revealed the reappearance of the MCU's most formidable antagonist.
Marvels’ trailer reminds audiences with Phase 3’s bad guy
The opening scene of the fresh teaser trailer for The Marvels underscores the importance of heroes within the MCU, incorporating snippets from Avengers: Endgame where Nick Fury asserts the necessity of heroes in our world.
The footage also features Thanos' concluding speech in the movie, where he declares his inevitability and emphasizes that his overarching plan cannot be thwarted.
While Thanos is not visually shown in the trailer, his voice can be heard delivering a new line of dialogue that was absent in both Infinity War and Endgame: "There will always be more to complete my work."
This line could simply refer to Dar-Benn, the villain from The Marvels, who is a Kree warrior wielding an Accuser's hammer and sporting an identical bangle to Khan's. Dar-Benn's aim is to restore her homeland following a civil war.
The inclusion of Thanos' dialogue and Carol Danvers' explanation about the destruction caused by Dar-Benn may hint at her potential role as a significant adversary prior to the battle against Kang in the upcoming Avengers movie.
However, this line also suggests that Thanos might not be entirely absent, given the Marvel Cinematic Universe's exploration of the multiverse and alternate versions of characters in Phases 5 and 6. Therefore, there is a possibility of his return to pose a renewed threat to the galaxy.

As a passionate Marvel fan, I am thrilled by the possibility of Thanos' triumphant comeback in the MCU. His presence in the trailer for The Marvels, albeit only through his voice, has left me eagerly anticipating the film's release. The line "There will always be more to complete my work" suggests that Thanos' story may not be over, and that he could potentially return to threaten the galaxy once again. This would be a thrilling development, as Thanos is one of the most formidable and iconic villains in the MCU. His return would undoubtedly raise the stakes and add a sense of urgency to the upcoming films.
However, I also believe that the MCU should be cautious about overusing Thanos. While his return would be exciting, it is important to avoid relying too heavily on the same villain. The MCU has a rich roster of villains to choose from, and introducing new and compelling antagonists will keep the franchise fresh and exciting. Ultimately, I trust that Marvel Studios will make the right decision regarding Thanos' future in the MCU, and I am eagerly looking forward to seeing how his story unfolds.
