A funeral service will be held on Thursday to honor the late Sen. Dianne Feinstein at San Francisco City Hall. However, the memorial will be closed to the public at 1 p.m. PT due to "increased security," according to an announcement from Feinstein's office. The service was originally planned to be open to the public on the steps of city hall, but no additional details were given regarding the need for heightened security.
Feinstein, who passed away at the age of 90 last week, was born in San Francisco. She made history as the city's first female mayor, serving in this role for a decade. Later, she went on to serve more than 30 years in the US Senate.
San Francisco Mayor London Breed, President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and Eileen Mariano, Feinstein's granddaughter, are scheduled to deliver speeches at her memorial, as stated by the office of the late Democratic senator.
