Diablo 4's Store Prices: Unveiling a Major Issue Exposed by Players

A Diablo 4 fan recently found out that certain Platinum coin bundles do not offer any monetary savings to players. This is just one of the several issues that players have encountered with Diablo 4's in-game store.

Diablo 4 is a live-service game that was priced at $70. Additionally, the game includes periodic seasons, each with their own premium Battle Passes and in-game cosmetics. Fortunately, unlike Diablo Immortal, players are not required to make additional microtransactions in order to access more powerful abilities.

However, players have found another reason to be disappointed with Diablo 4's in-game store. A Redditor and fan of the game, Coderuss, shared an image highlighting a significant issue with the Platinum coin bundles in the Canadian version of the cash shop. Initially, the largest bundle appeared to be the most lucrative, but upon closer inspection, Coderuss realized that purchasing a smaller bundle would actually offer better value.

Subsequently, other Diablo 4 players performed calculations and determined the precise number of coins Canadian players would receive per Canadian dollar spent on these bundles:

The 133.49 CAD bundle gives players 86.14 Platinum coins per dollar.

The 64.99 CAD bundle gives players 87.71 Platinum coins per dollar–nearly two more than the larger one.

The other bundles at a lower price point offer an incrementally higher value, with each one providing between three and six more coins per dollar compared to the previous bundle.

This difference appears to be primarily due to the exchange rates between USD and CAD. For players in the US, the advertised values seem to be accurate, with the first three bundles providing 100 coins per dollar, and the larger bundles offering an additional 12, 14, and 15 coins per dollar respectively. It is possible that there was an error during the conversion of shop costs to CAD by someone on the Diablo 4 team, as Blizzard has had pricing issues in certain countries in the past.

This detail unsurprisingly failed to endear players to the cash shop in Diablo 4. Some questioned how the conversion of currency could result in such a mess, while others pondered the logic of spending over $100 on in-game cosmetics after already paying $70 for the game itself. Regardless, everyone agreed that any player considering a purchase from the Diablo 4 store should think carefully and crunch the numbers first – especially if their currency differs from USD.
