Diablo 4's Season of Blood launched with some major bugs, forcing Blizzard to temporarily disable crossplay between consoles and PC.
Some players feel that the social elements of Diablo 4 are not fully developed, which makes the advantages of crossplay appear unused. Although Season of Blood introduces new bosses and opportunities for endgame farming, further efforts are necessary to recapture the game's initial popularity.
Diablo 4 encountered major bugs upon the launch of Season of Blood on October 17, resulting in the temporary disabling of crossplay between consoles and PC by Blizzard. The inclusion of crossplay was initially a significant selling point for Diablo 4, as it allowed friends to group together regardless of region or platform. However, numerous fans have criticized the underdeveloped social aspects of the game, leading to the underutilization of crossplay benefits.
Despite Season of Blood's focus on introducing quality-of-life enhancements such as a dedicated gem material tab and improved stash functionality, there are still numerous elements that Diablo 4 fans believe are lacking in the game. While Season 2 was intended to be a substantial step in the right direction, the presence of glitches has overshadowed an otherwise promising launch.
Players of Diablo 4 have reported various issues, such as their Seasonal Progress not being saved, the inability to claim rewards from the Premium Battle Pass, and cosmetic items with placeholder icons. Additionally, the community has encountered slow download speeds and new error codes after the update. As a result, Blizzard has temporarily disabled crossplay functionality in order to address these technical problems.
Nevertheless, despite the troubled launch, the Season of Blood update shows potential for the future of Diablo 4. This update introduces new bosses and allows players to farm for Uber Uniques by facing the challenge of Uber Duriel, which is comparable in difficulty to Uber Lilith. While fans appreciate Blizzard's efforts to expand the endgame content beyond Nightmare Dungeons, it may require more than just adding a few bosses to regain the initial player base Diablo 4 had upon release.
Keep an eye out for Diablo 4 news at BlizzCon 2023, as Blizzard is expected to tease the first expansion pack during the opening presentation. Following the success of Reaper of Souls, the expansion pack may tap into the game's potential and elevate Diablo 4 to the level expected from the franchise. Diablo 4 can be played on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
