"The inventory space predicament in Season 1 of Diablo 4 exacerbates with the inclusion of Malignant Hearts, which fail to stack and occupy a solitary slot each."

"Collecting gems has already left players disheartened with the inventory system, and now their frustration is compounded by the arrival of Malignant Hearts."

With the commencement of Season 1 in Diablo 4, players are encountering a fresh hurdle in the form of inventory space. The limitation of inventory space has long been a concern for numerous players since the initial release of Diablo 4. However, the situation has intensified due to the introduction of a new item in Season 1.

Diablo 4's first season, known as the Season of the Malignant, introduces a range of fresh content and features to Blizzard Entertainment's latest release. This season is accessible to players who have successfully completed the main campaign, requiring them to begin anew with a brand new character. While currency does not carry over to the new season, players will retain the Renown earned in the campaign, as well as their mounts and unlocked portions of the map. Additionally, Season 1 offers players new items including Legendary Aspects, Uniques, and an innovative item type known as Malignant Hearts.

A Reddit user by the name of Interesting_Tone1290 recently shared an image of their inventory filled with Malignant Hearts. This screenshot highlights a drawback of Diablo 4's inventory system, as the Malignant Hearts occupy individual slots without the ability to stack. This compounds the existing issue of limited inventory space that players had experienced with gem collection. With a plethora of various items taking up slots, the game's loot-heavy nature can lead to players quickly running out of space.

There are four different types of Malignant Hearts in Diablo 4: Wrathful (Super), Devious (Utility), Vicious (Offensive), and Brutal (Defensive). Each type of heart grants the player a different effect based on its category and the character's class. However, the issue arises when these items start to stack, causing the player's inventory to quickly fill up even after a short run through a small dungeon.

The problem with Malignant Hearts in Diablo 4 goes beyond inventory concerns, as some of these items are not functioning correctly. For instance, the Caged Heart of Frozen Terror, a Malignant Heart specifically designed for Necromancers, is intended to inflict the Fear effect on enemies for 2.5 seconds per Lucky Hit. However, it actually ends up applying this effect to the player instead. Hopefully, future seasons of Diablo 4 will be released with fewer irritating bugs and more improvements to enhance overall gameplay.

Diablo 4 is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
