Blizzard is being urged by some Diablo 4 players to incorporate a simple quality-of-life enhancement that would greatly enhance the overall gameplay experience. This request came to light after the community proposed an excellent concept for tracking world bosses in the game.
Similar to previous iterations of the franchise, Diablo 4 offers numerous portals that allow players to navigate its vast world. The fast travel system primarily relies on Town Portals, which are conveniently located at the center of each settlement. While many players have applauded the game's transition to a fully immersive open world, others have raised concerns about the drawbacks it presents, specifically the limited content variety and the difficulties associated with travel.
Players have been requesting Blizzard to add a feature that allows them to set a default town when teleporting out of a location. They argue that this small change to the game's fast travel option would greatly enhance their overall experience. A Reddit user named MoribundNight criticized some of Diablo 4's city layouts, referring to them as "absolute trash" and expressing a preference for being able to teleport to their pre-selected home settlement with a simple click. Currently, players can only conveniently warp to the main town of the region they are exploring. While the game does offer fast travel to any town from the world map, many players find the current interface to be cumbersome due to the vast size of Diablo 4's open world. Some players have even reported issues with the map itself, leading them to desire the ability to warp to their town of choice without having to search for it every time.
Some argued that allowing players to set a default teleport location would lead to certain settlements becoming deserted, as most players would likely choose the smallest and most accessible locations as their primary destinations. While many players agreed with this viewpoint, some took it as an opportunity to criticize Blizzard for not designing more efficient and easy-to-navigate town layouts in Diablo 4.
It remains uncertain if this suggested quality-of-life feature will be implemented. However, the demand for its inclusion adds to the extensive list of player grievances regarding Diablo 4's user interface that the gaming community has been expressing online since the game's beta stage.
Diablo 4 is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
