Diablo 4 Hardcore Race Gets Crucial Update

Diablo 4 addresses concerns over Hardcore Victories Contest, ensuring a level playing field for all players

Diablo 4's Hardcore Victories Contest has addressed a potential issue that could have given certain players an unfair edge. With this new rule in place, all contenders will start on equal footing, eliminating any inherent advantages that review copy holders might have had. The race to reach level 100 on a Hardcore character and earn a spot on the Lilith statue at Blizzard campus will be a fair and level playing field for all.

The rules of the Hardcore Victories Contest for Diablo 4 were modified to ensure fairness after it was discovered that some participants had an unfair advantage. The updated terms and conditions state that individuals who had access to review copies, Blizzard employees and their affiliates, as well as their immediate family members and those living in the same households, are not eligible to participate in the competition. Blizzard also reserves the right to disqualify anyone who tries to claim the offer if they discover any other irregularities that could have given them an unfair advantage. Some reviewers who had prior access to Diablo 4 had voluntarily recused themselves from the competition before Blizzard officially disqualified them. Maxroll, a popular website that writes guides for ARPGs such as Diablo 4 and Path of Exile, was one of the groups that took the lead in promoting fairness in the contest, and many believe that this initiative prompted Blizzard to change the official rules.

Many Diablo 4 players are pleased with Blizzard's decision to withhold the full map in the game. This change means that players can now gain valuable experience on how best to survive the bosses and traps they will encounter, while also discovering the fastest ways to reach level 100. Moreover, this decision ensures that those who claim one of the 1000 slots in the Hardcore Victories Contest will have earned their spot without an unfair advantage.

However, the competition may not be entirely fair. The Hardcore Victories Contest will begin on June 1 at 4 PM PDT, coinciding with the early access launch of Diablo 4. Only players who have purchased the Deluxe or Ultimate editions of the game will have access to early access, leaving others at a disadvantage. To increase their chances of claiming one of the limited slots in the contest, players may need to upgrade to a premium version of Diablo 4 to avoid missing out on four additional days of leveling.

Diablo 4 will be available on June 6 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
