Highlights
The Season of the Malignant in Diablo 4 has recently received an update patch, which aims to resolve several player concerns. However, it unfortunately falls short in addressing the most significant issues at hand. This patch primarily focuses on rectifying minor problems, such as adjusting the color of Druids' fur in their Werebear or Werewolf forms and fixing various bugs related to the powers of the Malignant Heart.
Blizzard intends to release future patches to address major criticisms and implement changes that involve strengthening the Sorcerer and Barbarian classes, as well as enhancing the density of monsters in Nightmare Dungeons and Helltides.
The latest patch for Diablo 4 has been released for the ongoing Season of the Malignant, tackling a range of player feedback. Despite being less than a week old, the first content update for Diablo 4 after its official launch has sparked substantial controversy. Blizzard has made significant alterations to the Diablo 4 experience through this patch and has assured players of more noteworthy changes in the pipeline. Although this patch will not directly address the primary concerns of Diablo 4 players, it does resolve some minor issues.
Diablo 4's first post-launch content release, "The Season of the Malignant," presents players with a new questline featuring former priest Cormond and the dangerous spread of the Malignant corruption. This update also introduces the Malignant Hearts mechanic, allowing players to wield powerful artifacts, and includes a challenging boss fight against Varshan the Consumed. Additionally, players can enjoy a battle pass filled with exciting cosmetic items and progression systems. However, players have voiced concerns about a balance patch that has been alleged to slow down progression in the game, an issue that Blizzard has acknowledged. The recent update 1.1.0c for Diablo 4 addresses various concerns arising from the Season of the Malignant release. Although no major changes have been made, the update fixes several notable issues that have garnered attention from the Diablo 4 community. Notably, players will now encounter a confirmation pop-up when clicking the Premium Battle Pass button, ensuring a smooth experience for those with a free activation.
Blizzard's response to player feedback in the latest Diablo 4 update is evident once again, this time regarding the color of the Druids' fur when they transform into their Werebear or Werewolf forms. In the previous patch, the fur color of Druids was significantly brighter and more accurately matched the hair color of the player character. However, the recent fix has now adjusted the fur brightness, making sure that Werebears no longer attract undue attention in a crowd.
A total of twelve changes were implemented, which included fixing bugs related to Malignant Heart powers and their interactions with certain skills such as Dark Dance and Punishing Speed powers, as well as the Agitated Winds heart and Cyclone Armor. Additionally, there was a fix for an exploit that allowed players to repeatedly complete a Season Journey Objective by dropping and picking up a Whispering Tree cache.
Blizzard acknowledges that addressing larger criticisms of the Season of the Malignant patch will take time. However, they have planned a Diablo 4 1.1.1 patch which will revert some changes, buff the Sorcerer and Barbarian classes, and increase monster density in Nightmare Dungeons and Helltides. The patch released today focuses on resolving smaller issues that Blizzard was able to fix within a week. Players can look forward to future quality-of-life updates as Blizzard continues to work towards Diablo 4 1.1.1.
