The developers of Diablo 4 have announced that they will soon be upgrading the storage capacity in the game. This exciting news was shared during a recent livestream called the Diablo 4 Developer Update, where the development team discussed the game's future.
The storage space, also known as the Stash, in Diablo 4 has been a topic of discussion among players, as many have expressed frustration with running out of room to store their items. Currently, a player's character can hold up to 33 items in their inventory, while a single Stash tab allows for 50 items. Players have the option to purchase additional Stash tabs with gold, but are limited to a maximum of 4 tabs. Despite the current capacity allowing for around 233 items, the high number of item drops in Diablo 4 necessitates the need for more storage space. Thankfully, the developers have acknowledged this issue and are actively working on finding solutions.
According to PCGamesN, associate game director Joe Piepiora addressed fan concerns by stating that the team is aware of the issue. Piepiora mentioned that internal discussions have been held and the team is working swiftly to resolve the problem. He assured players that more storage space will be provided in Diablo 4, although the developers are still determining the best approach for implementation. However, these changes are not expected to be implemented in the upcoming season, as general manager Rod Fergusson emphasized the importance of thorough testing to ensure stability.
The community has attempted various methods to address the storage space problem in Diablo 4, but these solutions have only offered limited success. One major contributing factor is that gems currently occupy an entire item slot. Even when identical gems can be stacked, players still face space limitations for other desired items. To address this issue, the developers have announced that gems in Diablo 4 will be treated as crafting materials moving forward, a decision that has been well-received by the community.
The community is dissatisfied with Blizzard's livestream despite the positive news. The livestream included updates on both Diablo 4 and the mobile game Diablo Immortal, leading to some confusion. One example is the announcement of a new Blood Knight character class for Diablo Immortal, which caused several players to mistakenly believe it was for Diablo 4, the more popular title.
Diablo 4 is currently available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
