Dell Introduces UltraSharp Monitors with Enhanced 120Hz Refresh Rate

Dell's UltraSharp Monitors now boast an impressive 120Hz refresh rate, providing smoother visuals and enhanced gaming experiences Additionally, Dell ensures improved eye comfort, making it a compelling choice for both productivity and leisure activities

Dell's UltraSharp monitors are highly praised for their accurate colors, exceptional video quality, and affordable prices. However, the absence of a high refresh rate option has deterred some users. That changes today with Dell's introduction of the first UltraSharp monitors featuring a 120Hz refresh rate.

The newly unveiled Dell UltraSharp 27 Thunderbolt Hub Monitor (U2724DE) and UltraSharp 27 Monitor (U2724D) have achieved a five-star eye comfort rating from TUV Rheinland, a first for monitors. These monitors incorporate ambient light sensors and advanced technology to automatically adjust brightness, fine-tune colors, and minimize potentially harmful blue light emissions. While these features are impressive, our focus lies on the remarkable 4K QHD resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, 2000:1 contrast ratio, and outstanding color coverage (89% DCI-P3, 100% sRGB).

The Dell UltraSharp 27 Thunderbolt Hub Monitor serves as both a docking station and a monitor. It connects to your computer using a Thunderbolt cable, providing 90-watt passthrough charging, 2.5 GbE networking, four USB-A accessory ports, and a Type-C accessory port. It also includes an HDMI, DisplayPort, and USB-C video port for additional video sources, as well as a TB4 downstream port for daisy-chaining with another monitor.

On the other hand, the more affordable Dell UltraSharp 27 Monitor has a simplified selection of ports. It supports video connectivity through USB-C, HDMI, and DisplayPort. When connected to your computer via USB-C, it activates the monitor's three USB-A ports and a single USB-C accessory port. However, unlike the Thunderbolt Hub version, it does not offer passthrough charging.

Dell has unveiled the latest versions of its UltraSharp 24 and UltraSharp Video Conferencing monitors alongside its new UltraSharp 27 monitors. However, it should be noted that only Dell's mainline 27-inch UltraSharp models have the exclusive feature of a 120Hz refresh rate, while the 27-inch Video Conferencing monitor still operates at 60Hz. It is expected that the high refresh rate will become a standard feature in UltraSharp monitors in the coming years.

In terms of pricing, the 120Hz UltraSharp monitors are reasonably priced. The standard UltraSharp 27 Monitor (U2724D) is priced at $480, while the UltraSharp 27 Thunderbolt Hub Monitor (U2724DE) costs $650. Both monitors will be available for purchase in the United States starting from November 9th. For those who do not require the 120Hz refresh rate, opting for an older version of the UltraSharp monitor would be a more cost-effective option that still offers most of the same features.
